The Legacy Index

Terms of Service

Last Updated: May 23, 2026  ·  Version 1.0

These terms are written to be understood — not just to protect us legally, but to be genuinely honest with you about how The Legacy Index works and what you can expect from us.

What The Legacy Index Is

The Legacy Index is a private family legacy and memory preservation platform. It's a place where families can preserve stories, photos, videos, documents, family trees, and meaningful memories — organized and protected for the people who matter most.

The Legacy Index is designed for personal and family use. It is not a social media network, not a public sharing platform, and not a commercial content distribution service. Think of it as a private digital heirloom — a trusted place where your family's story lives on.

Features include family networks, family trees, legacy vaults, collections, time-released messages, and tools for organizing your family's most important memories and documents.

Your Account

You are responsible for keeping your account secure. Please use a strong password and do not share your login credentials with others.

When creating your account, you agree to provide accurate, honest information. Impersonating another person, creating fake profiles, or providing false information is not permitted.

You are also responsible for who you invite into your family network. Please only invite people you know and trust. The Legacy Index gives you control over your family space — that control comes with responsibility.

If you believe your account has been compromised, please contact us at support@timebridge.com immediately.

You Own Your Content

The Legacy Index does not own your memories. You do.

When you upload photos, videos, stories, documents, voice notes, or any other content to The Legacy Index, you retain full ownership of that content. We do not claim any intellectual property rights over your family memories.

By uploading content, you grant The Legacy Index a limited license to store, display, process, and organize your content — but only to the extent necessary to operate the platform for you and your invited family members. We do not use your personal family content for advertising, and we do not sell your memories or uploads.

We may use anonymized, non-personal platform usage data (such as how features are used) to improve The Legacy Index. This data is never linked to your personal content or identity.

Family Networks & Relationships

The Legacy Index allows you to build family trees and organize your connections through family networks. Relationship designations — such as "Mother," "Grandfather," or "Cousin" — are entirely user-generated and managed.

The Legacy Index is a memory and legacy platform, not an official genealogical authority. We do not verify the accuracy of family relationship designations, and we understand that family structures are diverse, complex, and deeply personal. Families include biological, legal, adoptive, blended, and chosen relationships — all are honored here.

You are responsible for managing your family tree accurately and respectfully. If family relationships evolve over time, you can update them at any point.

Privacy & Visibility

You control the visibility of your content. The Legacy Index is built on a privacy-first foundation — content is private by default unless you choose to share it within your family network.

Some content can be shared within invited family networks, shared with specific individuals, or kept entirely private in your Legacy Vault. You decide what is shared, with whom, and when.

Invitation-based access means only the people you invite can join your family spaces. The Legacy Index does not make your family content publicly discoverable.

What's Not Allowed

To keep The Legacy Index safe and trustworthy for all families, the following content and behavior are not permitted:

  • Illegal content of any kind
  • Abusive, harassing, or threatening material
  • Content that sexually exploits minors in any way
  • Malware, harmful code, or phishing attempts
  • Fraudulent or impersonation content
  • Unauthorized use of copyrighted materials
  • Using the platform for commercial spam or solicitation

The Legacy Index reserves the right to remove content, suspend accounts, and investigate any reported violations. We take platform safety seriously — especially given the sensitive and personal nature of family legacy content.

Service Availability

We are building The Legacy Index with long-term permanence in mind. Your family's legacy deserves a platform that will be there for generations.

That said, we cannot guarantee uninterrupted service at all times. Like all digital platforms, The Legacy Index may experience scheduled maintenance windows, unexpected outages, or technical limitations. We maintain backup systems and take reasonable steps to protect your data, and we will always communicate significant service changes in advance.

We encourage users to keep personal backups of particularly important files. We are committed to giving you export options so your content is never held hostage.

Subscriptions & Billing

The Legacy Index currently offers free access while in beta. In the future, we plan to offer subscription plans including monthly, annual, and family plans, as well as giftable subscriptions and potentially lifetime access options.

Before any subscription or billing changes take effect, we will notify you clearly and in advance. You will never be charged without your explicit consent. Billing terms will be detailed fully when subscription plans are introduced.

Account Deletion & Leaving

You may delete your account at any time. We honor that right completely. Visit our Account Deletion page to submit a deletion request.

You may also leave family networks, remove content you've uploaded, or adjust your privacy settings at any time from your account settings.

The Legacy Index may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, particularly in cases involving illegal content, harassment, or abuse. We will make reasonable efforts to notify affected users unless notification would itself cause harm.
